1. Roorkee Indian Institute of Technology (1847)
The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, is one of India’s oldest engineering schools. The Thomason College of Civil Engineering was founded in 1847 by Lord Dalhousie and was known as the Thomason College of Civil Engineering. In 1949, the college became the University of Roorkee. The college was designated as India’s seventh IIT in 2001. The college offers undergraduate and graduate courses in 21 fields. In the B.Tech program, admission to IIT Roorkee is determined on the JEE Advanced result, whereas admission to the M.Tech program is based on the GATE score.
2. Pune College of Engineering
The Maharashtra government administers the College of Engineering in Pune, an autonomous college. In 1854, the college was founded. It is one of India’s best engineering institutes. The college offers nine undergraduate courses, twenty-four postgraduate programs, and four postgraduate diploma courses. MHT-CET is held every year for admission to the B.Tech program, and the GATE score is applicable for admission to the M.Tech program.
3. Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology, Shibpur
Shibpur Howrah’s Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology was founded in 1906. It is India’s second oldest engineering college. Bengal Engineering and Science University was the college’s previous name. The college comprises sixteen departments and eight schools in total. The college provides BTech, Integrated Dual Degree, MTech, and courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Admission to the B.Tech program is based on the JEE Main score, whereas admission to the M.Tech program is based on the GATE score.
4. The University of Mumbai
Previously, the University of Bombay was known as Mumbai University. In 1857, it was founded. The institution has two campuses, one in Mumbai’s Kalina neighborhood and the other in Mumbai’s suburbs. M.Tech and B. Tech programs are available at the University. MHT-CET is accepted for B.Tech admission, and GATE is approved for MTech entrance.
5. College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai
Anna University is associated with the College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai. In 1794, the college was founded. This college began offering a civil engineering program in 1858. In addition, the college provides a variety of UG and PG programs.
The CEG campus houses 16 schools, 12 research centers, and six university-affiliated centers. In addition, the University provides 18 undergraduate courses, 35 postgraduate courses, and 34 self-supporting postgraduate courses. Admission to the BTech program is through TNEA, while admission to the MTech program is based on TANCET and GATE scores.

6. National Institute of Technology, Patna
In 1886, Patna’s National Institute of Technology was founded. A Pleaders Survey Training School is another name for it. Bihar College of Engineering was renamed in 1924. In 2004, the college was designated a National Institute of Technology. It is now India’s 18th National Institute of Technology (NIT). Engineering courses are available at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. JEE Main is approved for B.tech entrance, and GATE is accepted for MTech admission.
7. Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai
Mumbai’s Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute is one of the best in the world.
One of Asia’s oldest engineering institutes is Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute in Mumbai. In 1887, the University was founded. Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute used to be the name of the school. Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute was given its new name in 1997. At the diploma, certificate, graduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, the college provides a variety of engineering courses. The MHT-CET exam ultimately determines admission to the BTech program, whereas the GATE score determines admission to the MTech program.
8. Arya College Main Campus
In the year 1999, the Founder Chairman Er. Shri T.K. Agarwal, a Great Visionary from Roorkee University, formed the “All India Arya Samaj is Society” for Higher & Technical Education under the umbrella of “All India Arya Samaj is Society” for Higher & Technical Education. He founded the first private engineering college in the state of Rajasthan in his pursuit of glory and dignity. His vision paved the way for the establishment of over 150 private engineering colleges, and his initiatives helped turn Rajasthan into a North Indian IT hub.
9. Jadavpur University, Kolkata
In 1906, Jadavpur University was founded in Kolkata. This University was founded with the support of Rabindranath Tagore, Raja Subodh Chandra Malik, and Sir Rash Behari Ghosh. Bengal Technical Institute was the previous name for this University. The Bengal College of Engineering and Technology was renamed in 1910. WBJEE scores are used to admit students to BE or BTech programs, while GATE scores are used to admit students to ME or MTech programs.
10. Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru
The Government of India, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, and the Maharaja of Mysore collaborated to establish the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in 1909. Jamsetji Tata envisioned a university of science that would help India in 1886, and in 1898, he established an endowment to fund its establishment. After consulting with scientists in England and India, the Government of India decided to construct the Institute in Bangalore, to which the Maharaja of Mysore, Shri Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, made a huge donation of 372 acres of property.
11. University Visvesvaraya College Of Engineering, Bengaluru
University Visvesvaraya College Of Engineering, Bengaluru UVCE was founded in 1917 by Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya as Government Engineering College and was connected with the University of Mysore. UVCE is a constituent institution of Bangalore University after its founding in 1964.
12. Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi
IIT (BHU), Varanasi is a public engineering institute in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. The Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU) was founded in 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College. In 2012, it received the designation of the Indian Institute of Technology. Thanks to the foresight of its founder, Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya, BHU, is the first to commence degree classes in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, metallurgy, and pharmaceutics.
